International
Drenth has worked in many countries. This site shows a sample of his international work the emphasis being on European subjects.
Belgium
Although it used to be part of what was formerly known as The Low Countries (‘Netherlands’), Belgium has a very different atmosphere to Holland. Burgundian and relaxed compared to their ever busy Dutch counterparts. Belgium is divided into Flemish and French speaking parts, both notably different. Look at the typical Flemish towns of Antwerp, Bruges and Gent and at Brussels, the flamboyant bilingual capital.
France
With its typical style, famous landmarks and stunning landscapes, France is a never-ending subject for every photographer. Drenth not only photographed Paris in his typical warm style, but also portrayed the beauty of popular regions such as the Provence and Auvergne. Moreover, he followed almost every footstep of the Dutch painter van Gogh during his French period.
Itally
Built on the foundation of the fabled Roman Empire, the Italians have set the standard for what has become known as La Dolce Vita. Visible in cosmopolitan cities and small mountain towns alike, the Italians know how to enjoy themselves like no other. Spectacular landscapes, landmarks and monuments, stunning architecture, the fantastic cooking and outstanding style and fashion are all photographed in rare detail, highlighting Venice, Tuscany, Milan, the Dolomites and the romantic coastal Chinque Terre
Germany, Austria, Switzerland
The German-speaking countries east of the Netherlands share a great natural beauty, ranging from the western European plain to the summit of the Alps. Both scarcely photographed regions of Europe such as Sauerland, Ostfriesland and Graubunden as well as more popular areas such as Lake Lugarno, the Danube and Vienna are all presented in Drenth’s typical warm style.
Europe Mix
A mixture of European photographs, presented to show the photographer’s style more than to display his complete portfolio, includes Great Britain, Norway, Finland, the islands of Corsica and Lanzarote, and the city of St. Petersburg.
World Mix
A ‘wild’ mix of international photos, introducing the USA, the Dutch Antillian islands of Curaçao, St. Maarten, St. Eustatius and Saba, as well as Middle Eastern destinations such as Turkey and Lebanon.
Morocco
Morocco is an oriental dream. A vast country inhabited by Berber peoples and Arabs, existing of huge cities, charming towns and slumbering villages. Jurjen Drenth visited Marrakesh, the stunning walled city with its fantastic Moorish architecture and overwhelming ‘medina’ and ‘souks’ where ancient arts and crafts go hand in hand with superb touristic possibilities. From Marrakesh it’s just a one day’s drive, over the Atlas Mountains, to reach the famous Kasbah Route and the outskirts of the fabled Sahara.
Sweden
Sweden is in many ways a winter wonderland, which can be experienced in the pleasant Are ski area. The Are region offers all that matters: The charming and kind Swedes themselves, for one, but also great restaurants famous for their cozy ‘living room atmosphere’, dog sledge rides through the forrests, and – don’t miss out on it – a hot tub after skïing.
