Vermeer
Johannes Vermeer, one of the famous 17th century Dutch painters, is synonymous for the city of Delft. Although his ouevre is limited and Vermeer died a poor man who left many mysteries behind, his importance is enormous, both for his technique and his subjects. His paintings show the daily life that took place in Delft, as well as a series of portraits. In his photos Jurjen Drenth brings Vermeer’s Delft alive.
